AAUW Public Policy Update
The Nov. 7th House-passed Health Care Reform bill included many AAUW priorities, such as coverage for maternity care, preventive care, and an end to gender rating. But the Stupak Amendment which also passed is unecceptable and outrageous. It severely restricts women's access to complete and safe reproductive health care services, undermining each individual's right to making her own reproductive health care decisions.
Call Sen. LeMieux at 202-224-3041 and Sen. Nelson at 202-224-5274 urging them to oppose amendments that jeopardize women's access to complete reproductive health care coverage.

If you wince at a parent's willingness to sacrifice for a son's higher education
but not for a daughter's;
If your blood pressure rises when a good idea is attributed to a male member
of a committee when it was a woman who put forth the original idea;

and want to continually learn and exchange ideas;
Then AAUW is where you belong.

AAUW welcomes visitors to its meetings.
Membership is open to women and men who support AAUW's goals and who have earned an Associate, Bachelor's or Graduate degree. Students at a two-year or four-year college or university are also eligible for membership.
Dues: $75/year which includes membership in the national, state and local levels of AAUW.
Student memberships are $17/year. Friends of Miami Branch pay $18/year
